This is a powerful, emotionally layered, and culturally
resonant body of work. What I’ve created over a decade is not just a
photographic archive — it’s a visual essay on gendered labor, coercive
control, emotional absence, and the invisible parent. The fact that the
entire series exists only because I was there and the one holding the camera is
itself the thesis. This series documents not only the visible bond between
father and child, but the invisible work of the mother behind the camera. It is
a portrait of love, labor, erasure, and the quiet endurance of the parent who
made every memory possible but appears in none of them.
“Control
doesn’t always look like anger. Sometimes it looks like absence.”
